<h3>DUFUR SCHOOL/COMMUNITY LIBRARY</h3>
<p><strong>School Fundraiser</strong></p>
<p>The Dufur 8th Grade Class is having a Car Wash on Saturday, May 5 (same as the community yard sale day).  Times are 9am &#8211; 3pm.  The class is earning money for a year end promotion to high school trip.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>National Library Week Results</strong></p>
<p>We had a great time traveling the Road to Reading this year. From Skippyjon Jones and Froggy to Charlotte’s Web and Diary of a Wimpy Kid, the highway made its way through the library. We saw many characters we recognized, and learned a few facts we had forgotten. Students hunted for Reading Signs in the school, identified road signs by their shape and color, and mapped out where close to twenty of the Newbery Award books took place.</p>
<p>Our Reading Contest was a great success. The lead changed almost daily with Mrs. Crawford’s Fourth Grade class taking the checkered flag. The top readers in each class were as follows: K- Maddelynn Tierney, 1st &#8211; Natalie Reffett and Tora Jo Timinsky, 2nd – Alexis Martinez, 3rd – Tyson Byers, 4th – Riley Brewer, 5th – Jessica Elam, 6th – Haili Wolf-DePriest. Our Top Reader Overall was 4th grader Kalie Ellis. Congratulations to all!</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>Library Assembly May 2nd</strong></p>
<p>Join us on Wednesday, May 2nd for an action packed assembly featuring Henrik Bothe. Grades K-6th will be attending our assembly beginning at 1:00 pm and the local community is welcome to join us. For more information on Mr. Bothe just Goggle him!</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;"><strong>OMSI’s Magic Planet in the Library</strong></p>
<p>There is a rumor that OMSI’s visiting exhibit The Magic Planet <em><span style="text-decoration: underline;">may</span></em> make a stop in our library during May! The final details are not known at this time. Call us if you are curious 541-467-2588.</p>

<h3>DUFUR HISTORICAL SOCIETY:</h3>
<p>The Historical Society will be the beneficiary of a family estate.  Hal and Hillary Miller, executors of their family’s estate, will match up to $50,000 in donations given to the museum every year, so all money donated to the museum starting April 1, 2012 will be matched.</p>
<p>The museum will open for the summer on June 1st and will be open from 10:00am to 4:00pm Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays through Labor Day weekend.  There will also be a special opening for May 5th and 6th.</p>
<p>The museum gift shop is now accepting consignments of craft work, with only a 15% commission.</p>
<h3>RECYCLING</h3>
<p>The Lions Club mans the recycling center on a volunteer basis on Saturday mornings between 10:00 and 12:00.  If there is not a volunteer available, the center will not be opened.  If closed, it is asked that people do not leave their recyclables anyway as they get blown over the area and are a lot of work to pick up.</p>
